OLGA
YAMEOGO
September 11 • 12 • 13 5:00 P.M — 9:00 P.M
Born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Olga Yaméogo lives in Toulouse since 1983 and shares her time between her practice in art and art therapy, specialized into ethnopsychiastry.
ARTIST STATEMENT
To evoke rather than to represent that is undoubtedly what drives Olga Yameogo when she begins a new work. This aspiration takes shape in the way she develops a project: after sketching a few lines, she proceeds with light, fluid touches that blend and overlap until her subject emerges.
She draws her inspiration from her family, from her loved ones, and from her encounters. All of them seem, in the end, to leave behind more than a portrait: an imprint, an aura, a form of presence which under the vibration of colors, defies the boundaries of time: past, present and even future merging into a single image, a sensation, a joyful nostalgia that conveys what the artist perceives in them and offers to behold. In the simplest yet most sincere and profound way, Olga Yaméogo extends to us an invitation to gentleness, tenderness and joy.
EXHIBITIONS
Recent exhibitions include Art Paris 2025, AKAA 2022 (As Known As Africa, Paris), Investec Art Fair 2023 (Cape Town) and the OFF of Biennale Dak Art 2022 (Dakar).
Olga Yaméogo is represented by Christophe Person.
